ZEE expands movie bouquet with Zee Bollywood, channel to go live on Aug 31

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) is all set to launch a new Hindi movie channel – Zee Bollywood – from August 31. The new channel will replace Zee Classic. According to industry sources, Zee Bollywood will be a pure Bollywood movie channel with no dubbed content.

ZEEL’s Hindi movies bouquet already includes Zee Cinema, Zee Action, Zee Anmol Cinema, &Pictures, and Zee Classic (which will go off air).

Zee Classic was launched in 2005 with the sole objective of airing only classic and blockbusters of yesteryears to revive nostalgic moments and memories. Zee Classic has 500-plus movie titles in its library.

ZEEL has been contemplating about launching an HD variant of Zee Classic for quite some time. Over 70 per cent of the channel’s library is HD-ready. However, the biggest challenge in launching an HD variant of Zee Classic is the fact that a lot of old movies are not available in HD format.
