Zohar Furniturewala joins Scarecrow as ECD

The ideology of Scarecrow Communications has always been to create advertising that has a lasting shelf life. The team works towards creating communication that permeate popular culture. Easily enthused by new ideas, technology and fresh thoughts, Scarecrow is a reflection of its founder members’ beliefs and attitude. Scarecrow’s special focus includes an inclination for Art, Craft & Design. Scarecrow Mumbai office doubled up as an art gallery where it periodically hosts art shows. Following are the few examples that underline their affinity. On 9th February 2010, Scarecrow launched itself at a unique art exhibition that showcased the work of 15 artists. The theme of this exhibition was – SCARECROW.  On its 1st anniversary, Scarecrow hosted an art show called ‘Landscape Of New Desires’, showcasing the work of Baroda based artists and in June 2011, Scarecrow hosted a unique art show called iPops, where technology met art. It exhibited iPad paintings by Pops a.k.a. K. V. Sridhar accompanied with educational workshop to teach iPad Paintings.

The agency’s 2nd anniversary saw the launch of the Design Division - Scarecrow Designs headed by Design Director Kapil Tammal one of the finest design minds of the country ((Young Spike winner of 2008). He was  hired in February  2011 and later promoted as ECD in July 2012.  In January 2012, Scarecrow conducted two innovative creative workshops called ‘MOM- Method of Madness’. These workshops were held at the prestigious Design Institute, NID, Ahmedabad and renowned art college MSU, Baroda.  On its 4th anniversary, Scarecrow hosted AAM Aadmi Party, where 24 unsung craftsmen of the Indian Ad Industry like Illustrators, Colourists, Hair Stylists, Product Stylists, Re-touchers were felicitated.

Now in their latest move Scarecrow is bringing in Zohar Furniturewala as ECD - Art on board at its Mumbai office to beef up its Art Dept. and to increase its capabilities in art, craft & design facets of business. He will be joining Scarecrow Mumbai effective 1st April, 2014.

Commenting on this development, Manish Bhatt, Founder Director, Scarecrow, said,  "At the current stage of Scarecrow's non-stop 4 year long journey, Scarecrow handles many  brands like ITC  (Vivel & Fiama Di Wills), Joy Cosmetics, Vimal, Lava and other brands across various categories like lifestyle, personal care, beauty, fashion etc. which demand new design ideas every day. So, apart from Kapil Tammal, Scarecrow was looking for one more design mentor, which we found in Zohar. He is not only a great design mind but also a great idea person and an occasional writer too. And his experience of running a design house will help him to become one of the rare creative people who understand the business we are in.”

Scarecrow Mumbai Art Dept. will now be divided into 2 groups. Kapil Tammal and Zohar Furniturewala will mentor the Art Dept. and each group will handle more than 15 brands.

Zohar has 15 years of experience in creating and executing idea-led brand campaigns & design projects, while running agencies and creative departments. His specific areas of expertise include: Creative leadership, robust knowledge of advertising and communication, great inter-personal relationships, team playing, perfectionism, freethinking and learning.
After studying BFA from Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Arts majoring in Typography, Zohar started his career in Ambience in 1998.

Thorough with creative business management aided by a keen insight and understanding of how businesses and clients work,  Zohar founded the Thunk Design Company in 2007, where he handled Fashion & Lifestyle Brands, Home Appliances and Media Brands (Reliance Corporate, Mustang Socks and Accessories, Optima Communications -Middle East, Chromozome Men's Innerwear, Futurebazaar.com.)
