Abbott Launches New PediaSure with Nutri-Pull System

Proper nutrition is critical to help children grow and reach their full potential, yet worldwide there are approximately 149 million stunted children below the age of five—and one-third, or 40.6 million, are in India.[i],[ii] Abbott, the global healthcare company, today announced the launch of new PediaSure with Nutri-Pull system to support children’s growth and development. The Nutri-Pull system is a unique combination of ingredients like vitamin K2, vitamin D, vitamin C and casein phosphopeptides (CPPs), which help support catch-up growth amongst children through the absorption of key nutrients.

Malnutrition in children can be caused by insufficient dietary intake, suboptimal nutrient absorption, or inefficient utilization of nutrients, and may result in both short- and long-term negative health outcomes. Undernutrition can take on many forms including stunting (low height-for-age), underweight (low weight-for-age) and wasting (low weight-for-height). Stunting has long-term effects on both individuals and societies, including poor cognition and educational achievement, lost productivity, and negative impacts on overall health. It can prevent children from reaching their full potential in life.

Nutrition plays a crucial role in addressing malnutrition and stunting challenges. Addressing undernutrition early can help mitigate growth issues and ensure children reach their full developmental capacity. If a child’s nutritional intake is falling short, a doctor or a registered dietitian can provide helpful tips to improve their diet. A nutritional supplement drink, like PediaSure, can also help.

PediaSure is a clinically-proven and scientifically-designed nutritional supplement to promote childhood growth. Its unique formulation delivers protein and key growth nutrients, and now includes the Nutri-Pull system with added CPPs. Peptides, such as CPPs, are digested and absorbed faster than whole protein and help attract key minerals that are important for growth including calcium, iron and zinc.

''Protein, vitamins and minerals are key for a child’s growth, yet sometimes only up to 50% of nutrients, like calcium, iron and zinc, may get absorbed from the food a child eats ,'' said Dr. Eileen Canday, PHD Nutrition; RD. ''Casein phosphopeptide is derived from hydrolysis of milk proteins that supports better absorption of these minerals. These minerals may help for a child’s catch-up growth. A combination of a balanced diet and nutritional supplement drinks, when necessary, can help foster holistic growth in children.''

''Abbott has been pioneering research and innovation in science-based nutrition with the goal of improving the health and wellbeing of the people we serve,'' said Neil George, General Manager of Abbott’s Nutrition Business in India. ''With the introduction of the new PediaSure, we are delivering the right nutrients and novel ingredients—like CPP—to help children achieve their developmental goals.''

Available in chocolate, vanilla and kesar badam flavors, new PediaSure can be found in the main pharmacies, supermarket, and ecommerce websites. For more information, visit www.pediasure.in
