ABBYs Day 3: Leo Burnett sweeps awards, bags Grand Prix, 3 Specialist Agency awards

Curtains came down on Goafest 2023 amid loud cheers as the third tranche of ABBY Awards were presented on Day 3. The loudest cheers were reserved for Leo Burnett India, which had had a good run at the ABBY One Show Awards at Goafest 2023.

After being adjudged Digital Specialist Agency of the Year and winning a Grand Prix at the ABBY Awards on Day 2, Leo Burnett India ended this year’s festival with a bang, securing one more Grand Prix and also being declared Creative Agency of The Year, Branded Content & Entertainment Specialist Agency of The Year, and Brand Activation & Promotions Specialist Agency of The Year.

On Day 3, Leo Burnett India took home 24 metals in Creative ABBYs, 11 metals in Brand Activations & Promotions, and 7 metals in Branded Content & Entertainment. The agency bagged the Grand Prix for its work titled ‘Oreo #BringBack2011’ done for Oreo India in the Brand Activation & Promotion - FMCG - Foods & Beverages sub-category.

Creative ABBYs

Leo Burnett India led the metals in Creative ABBYs with 24 wins, which included 5 Gold, 9 Silver, 4 Bronze and 6 Merits. The agency was adjudged Creative Agency of The Year.

Law & Kenneth Saatchi & Saatchi followed in the second position with 14 metals – 4 Gold, 4 Silver, 5 Bronze and 1 Merit.

Placed in the third spot was FCB Group India, which also took home 14 metals, including 2 Gold, 6 Silver, 5 Bronze, and 1 Merit. COG Culture followed with 12 metals – 2 Silver, 7 Bronze, and 3 Merit.

Mindshare and Wunderman Thompson India had 9 metals each – while Mindshare won 2 Silver, 4 Bronze and 3 Merits; Wunderman Thompson India bagged 1 Gold, 4 Bronze, and 4 Merits.

A total of 148 metals were awarded in Creative ABBYs, which included 14 Gold, 37 Silver, 53 Bronze and 44 Merit awards.

Brand Activation & Promotions

Leo Burnett India led in this category as well, securing a Grand Prix and being declared Brand Activation & Promotions Specialist Agency of The Year. Besides the Grand Prix, the agency’s metals tally stood at 11, which included 2 Gold, 2 Silver, and 6 Bronze awards.

VMLY&R won 4 Silvers, while Mullenlowe Lintas Group followed with Silvers. Placed fourth, COG Culture took home 1 Silver and 1 Bronze.

Cheil Worldwide, FCB Group India, Wunderman Thompson India, Enormous, Havas Life Sorento, BBH Communications India, Communique Marketing Solutions, Creative Land Asia, Laqshya Media Group, Tribes Communications, Flibbr Consulting and Digitas India were the other winners in Brand Activation & Promotions.

This category saw a total of 34 awards being given away, which included 1 Grand Prix, 2 Gold, 12 Silver, 15 Bronze and 4 Merits.

Branded Content & Entertainment

Leo Burnett India put up a strong show in this category as well, securing 7 metals – 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze awards.

Enormous followed with 2 Silvers and 1. Tribes Communications bagged 3 Bronzes and 1 Merit.

Airads Limited and Creative Land Asia bagged 1 Gold each.

Setu Advertising, Social Panga - Higa Digital, Sangbad Pratidin, BBH Communications India, Bennett Coleman & Co Ltd, Madison World, Mindshare, SoCheers, Croma - A Tata Enterprise, Havas Media, Mullenlowe Lintas Group, Schbang, White Rivers Media, and Cheil Worldwide were the other winners in Branded Content & Entertainment.

This category saw a total of 35 awards being given away, which included 4 Gold, 11 Silver, 16 Bronze, and 4 Merits.

Video Craft

A total of 58 metals were given away in Video Craft, which included 8 Gold, 17 Silver, 17 Bronze, and 16 Merits.

Good Morning Films topped the category, winning 20 metals – 5 Gold, 6 Silver, 5 Bronze, and 4 Merit awards. The production company was also adjudged Video Craft Specialist of The Year.

Chrome Pictures Media followed with 1 Gold and 3 Silver wins, while Scarecrow M&C Saatchi was placed third with 1 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze award.

Placed in the fourth position, Wunderman Thompson India took home 6 Bronze awards. Enormous bagged 1 Silver and 1 Bronze, while FCB Group India won 1 Silver and 2 Merits.

Young Maverick ABBY Award

The Advertising Club announced a new award category, ‘Young Maverick ABBY Award’ starting from the 2023 edition of Goafest, which will recognise and promote the new generation of talent, and reward the work they have created.

At the inaugural Young Maverick ABBY Award, Vasudha Roy, Abhijith SS, and Amaljith P from McCann Worldgroup India won the sole Gold award for their work titled ‘Shagun Ka Lifafa’ done for Ujjivan Small Finance Bank in the Young Maverick – Design sub-category.
