Amar Chitra Katha continues to inspire the next generation through history

Loved across generations, Amar Chitra Katha has once again immortalized the story of an Indian industrialist who has pioneered progress for generations. The Indian graphic novel publisher today launched a book on Naval Godrej, the industrialist who gave India many firsts- from the first Indian made typewriter that shaped corporate India to the country’s first ‘Made in India’ refrigerator. He also partnered with ISRO to build the country’s space capabilities and more, under the aegis of Godrej & Boyce, the flagship company of the Godrej Group. Naval Godrej’s vision also, took the name ‘Godrej’ to international markets through the launch of a Godrej & Boyce factory in Malaysia.

Preeti Vyas, President & CEO of Amar Chitra Katha, said, “At Amar Chitra Katha, we pride ourselves on being the nation's favourite storytellers for nearly six decades and are incredibly honoured to be sharing the story of Naval Godrej in an iconic Amar Chitra Katha comics book. The Naval Godrej story is one of determination, innovation and above all deep love for India. This story is indeed one of nation-building, and is so apt in today’s context, where India strives towards self-reliance and atmanirbharta in all fields. Growing up in a globalised world, Indian children today need inspirational stories of Indian innovators and entrepreneurs who worked hard to make India self-reliant and put us on the global map with their determination and innovation.

Nyrika Holkar, Executive Director, Godrej & Boyce said, “My grandfather’s journey has been an inspiration for me, personally and professionally. His keen mind, curiosity and can-do attitude was ingrained in the organization’s ethos that inspired many innovations over the years and continues to do so.”

As a publisher, we believe Naval Godrej’s story of pioneering progress, while ensuring the wellbeing of our planet and its people, is truly inspirational for today’s Indian child who needs to balance a confident global citizenship with a proud Indian identity.”

The book was launched with Naval Godrej’s children – Jamshyd Godrej Chairman and Managing Director, Godrej & Boyce, Smita Crishna, his granddaughter Nyrika Holkar, Executive Director, Godrej & Boyce, Preeti Vyas, President & CEO, Amar Chitra Katha renowned columnist & family friend Bachi Karkaria and some of India’s established business families.
