Anti-Semitic charge: Elon Musk attacks advertisers

In a heated interview on Wednesday, billionaire Elon Musk lashed out at advertisers who had abandoned his social media platform, X, due to the presence of antisemitic content. Musk, who had previously apologized for endorsing an anti-Jewish post on X, acknowledged the severity of his mistake, describing it as possibly the worst among his history of messages.
Despite facing criticism and losing advertisers, Musk vehemently denied being antisemitic and rejected the idea of being blackmailed by departing advertisers, using explicit language to express his defiance. The controversy arose when Musk agreed with a user's false claim that Jewish people were promoting hatred against white people, referencing the "Great Replacement" conspiracy theory. This theory suggests that Jewish people and leftists are orchestrating the replacement of white populations with non-white immigrants, leading to a "white genocide."
The backlash resulted in major companies, including Walt Disney, Warner Bros Discovery, and NBCUniversal parent Comcast, suspending their ads on X. Musk's trip to Israel, where he condemned antisemitism and hate speech, was characterized as independent of the controversy. He also engaged in a live-streamed conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who urged him to balance free speech protection with combating hate speech.
