New users on X have to pay for putting posts on platform

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, announced that new users on X will now have to pay to post on the platform in an effort to combat bot invasions. Musk explained that this fee aims to deter bots and free up usernames. The fee will be waived after three months of user activity. Earlier, the platform began charging unverified new users $1 annually in the Philippines and New Zealand. Recently, X, led by Musk, announced a major crackdown on spam accounts, resulting in some users losing followers. Musk plans to implement automated systems to tackle trolls and bots, although X hasn't disclosed the current number of bots on the platform.
