Elon Musk confirms return of news headlines on X

Elon Musk, owner of X, has officially announced the reinstatement of news headlines on the platform. Starting last month, X ceased displaying titles with URLs in previews. According to the company, this change aims to enhance the overall aesthetics of the popular micro-blogging site. Elon Musk recently shared a post on X, confirming that news headlines will once again be visible on the platform. The billionaire assured users that an upcoming update will restore the display of news article headlines.

In October, a prior change required users to tap or click on the URL card to read headlines or discover the article title. This latest update follows the footsteps of other major tech brands like Warner Bros, Discovery, IBM, Comcast, Disney, and Paramount, which have either withdrawn or halted advertising on X. These brands cited Musk's alleged endorsement of far-right viewpoints and his apparent agreement with posts promoting antisemitism as the reason for their decision.

In response to the loss of advertisers, Musk filed a lawsuit against the left-leaning non-profit Media Matters. The billionaire accused the publication of interfering with contracts, business defamation, and disrupting eventual economic advantages.

Recent reports claimed that X placed ads for prominent brands such as IBM and Apple alongside content praising Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party. This revelation prompted several major tech brands to temporarily pause their ads on X. The CEO of X emphasized her commitment to neutrality and truthfulness on the social media platform amid these controversies.
