Average ad volumes/day saw a steep rise by 3.2 times in Print in June 2020 over April 2020, even as average ad volume/day in May 2020 rose by 47 per cent compared to April 2020. This was revealed by TAM AdEx’s report on print advertising for the period April-June’20. This is the first time since TAM AdEx has come up with report which is solely based on Print Media since COVID-19.

According to the report, the Top 10 categories accounted for almost similar ad volume share in both April-June’20 and the pre-COVID-19 period of January-March’20.

Cars category topped the list with 8 per cent share of Ad Space, followed by Coaching/ Competitive Exam Centre. Four out of the Top 10 categories were from the Education Sector, accounting for 16 per cent share. Multiple Courses Categories was in the 3rd position with 5 per cent share. Hospital/ Clinics was in the 4th position with 4 per cent share, followed by Range of OTC Products.

7 categories were common among Top 10 list of January-March’20 and April-June’20.

Cars category maintained the 1st position in the April’20-June’20 period, as compared to January’20-March’20. Multiple Courses moved up to the 2nd position in April-June’20, compared to the 13th position in January-March’20. Ecomm-Education moved up by 20 positions to achieve the 9th rank in April-June’20, compared to January-March’20.

3 categories were the new entrants in the Top 10 list during April-June’20, compared to January-March’20.

Top 10 Advertisers accounted 22 per cent in April-June’20, compared to 16 per cent in January-March’20.

3 each out of Top 10 Advertisers were from Auto & Education Sector together accounting 6 per cent and 5 per cent share, respectively. SBS Biotech leads Print advertising with 6 per cent share in April-June’20. Maruti Suzuki India was in the 2nd position, followed by Fiitjee in the 3rd position with 4.8 times growth in print ads in April-June’20, as compared to January-March’20.

There were 7 new entrants in the Top 10 during April-June’20, compared to January-March’20.

Reliance Industries moved up by 2,636 positions to reach 7th position with 108 times rise in Prints Ads in April-June’20. Procter & Gamble Home Products moved up by 1,350 positions to achieve 5th rank in April-June’20, compared to January-March’20. Maruti Suzuki India moved to the 2nd position in April-June’20 from 4th position in January-March’20. Fiitjee moved up by 95 positions to achieve 3rd rank in April-June’20, compared to January-March’20.

3 brands each out of Top 10 were from the Education and Personal Healthcare Sector. Fiitjee topped brands in Print with 2.2 per cent share. Maruti Car Range moved to 2nd position in April-June’20 from 4th position in January-March’20. Ghadi Detergent Cake/Powder moved up by 592 positions to achieve 5th rank in April-June’20, compared to January-March’20. Utkarsh Classes moved up by 244 positions to achieve 8th rank in April-June’20, compared to January-March’20. 9 brands were new entrants in the Top 10 list of April-June’20, compared to January-March’20.
