BARC ratings Wk 30: Star Plus continues to lead urban+rural viewership

BARC ratings for Week 30 (July 23-29) of 2016 [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals] saw Star Plus continue to maintain its lead among Hindi GECs. Zee TV held on to its No. 2 spot, even as the top 3 Hindi GECs witnessed a decline in their gross viewership during the week.

Star Plus continued to be in the No. 1 spot in Week 30 as well, witnessing a gross viewership of 685,886, a decline from 696,376 recorded last week. Two of its shows – ‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein’ and ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ – featured among the top 5 shows on Hindi GECs in Week 30 in rural+urban. ‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein’ gained grounds this week, climbing up to the second spot from No. 3 last week, garnering 8,659 impressions (000s). Meanwhile, ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’ moves out of the top 5 list to be replaced by ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, which made a re-entry to the list at No. 4. The show garnered 8,368 impressions (000s) in rural+urban in Week 30.

Zee TV, which had moved past Colors to claim the No. 2 spot in Week 28, held on to this position this week as well. The channel saw a decline in its gross viewership from 636,898 in Week 29 to 611,276 this week. Two of Zee TV’s shows featured in the list of most viewed shows on Hindi GECs in rural+urban this week. ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ continued to be the most watched show on Hindi GECs in rural+urban, garnering 14,187 impressions (000s) in Week 30. The new entrant from the channel in this list was ‘Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani’, which made an entry in the third spot, garnering 8,424 impressions (000s).

Colors remained at the third spot in Week 30, registering a decline in its gross viewership from 584,678 recorded in Week 29 to 532,339 this week.

Star Utsav continued at No. 4 this week, witnessing a gross viewership of 486,363, compared to 450,259 recorded last week.

Zee Anmol climbed up a notch to be placed at the fifth spot this week, registering a gross viewership of 471,744, an increase from 433,515 recorded in Week 29. Period drama ‘Jodha Akbar’ slipped a notch to No. 5 this week among the top 5 shows on Hindi GECs in rural+urban, registering 8,332 impressions (000s).

Life OK slipped a notch this week to No. 6. The channel saw a decline in its gross viewership to 428,199 in Week 30 from 437,569 recorded last week.

Sony Pal, which had slipped to the seventh spot in Week 28, remained in that position this week as well, witnessing a decline in its gross viewership from 413,606 in Week 29 to 403,285 this week.

Sony Entertainment Television remained at No. 8 in Week 30, garnering gross viewership of 383,937, compared to 359,426 recorded last week.

Sony SAB, too, continued in the ninth spot this week. The channel recorded gross viewership of 369,043, an increase from 358,682 recorded in Week 29.

Placed at the tenth spot, Rishtey saw a further rise in its gross viewership to 298,741 in Week 30, from 289,896 recorded last week.
