BCCI announces tender process for TV & digital rights for IPL

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced the tender process for global media rights (TV and digital) for Vivo Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Invitation to Tender (ITT) for the Vivo IPL media rights will be available for purchase from Monday, September 19, 2016 in Mumbai.

On September 18, BCCI had tweeted: “BCCI President Lt. @ianuragthakur announces the tender process for @IPL - Global Media and Rights (TV & Digital).”

As is known, the IPL broadcast rights currently are with Sony Pictures Network India, which will come to an end after IPL Season 10 in 2017.

As per the BCCI, there will be a single Invitation to Tender process for the different media rights packages. Last date of purchase of ITT is October 18, 2016.

There are different packages for television and digital, which are as follows:

  • Indian Subcontinent TV Rights: 2018-2027 (10 IPL Seasons)
  • Indian Subcontinent Digital Rights: 2018-2022 (5 IPL Seasons) - 5 minutes delay after TV transmission
  • Rest if the world (ROW) Media Rights: 2018-2022 (5 IPL Seasons) - Available as entire ROW or territory groupings

Bidders may bid for any combination from these.
