Bharat Petroleum celebrates the achievement of Hockey ‘Bronze Medallists’

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a ‘Maharatna’ and a Fortune Global 500 Company, celebrated the consistently agile efforts of the Indian Men’s Hockey Team to claim the Bronze Medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020, 5 of whom are associated with the Corporation namely Birendra Lakra, Lalit Updhyay, Harmanpreet Singh, Varun Kumar and Vivek Sagar Prasad. The resolute Indian men’s hockey team rewrote history as it claimed an Olympic medal after 41 years, defeating Germany 5-4 in an enthralling encounter.

 

The company announced rewards for the 5 players of the team as a token of recognition for their unflinching commitment. A cash award of Rupees Fifteen Lakh and out of turn promotion was announced for each of the 5 players.

 

Sharing the thought that the Olympics is not just a sporting event but also a prestigious national event that brings joy and pride to the entire country, BPCL had initiated a campaign last month to motivate the participants called ‘Jeet ka Padak’. Over the years, BPCL has cultivated the value of sportsmanship and has motivated its employees to serve the country.

 

Expressing delight, Mr. K. Padmakar, Chairman & Managing Director, BPCL said, “Our players left no stone unturned to courageously embark on a victorious journey and this victory is indeed the beginning of a new history.”

 

Mr. Arun Kumar Singh, Director (Marketing) holding additional charge of Director (Refineries) and Director (Finance), BPCL said – “We have 5 heroes amongst us who refused to give up till the very end, and their victory is an inspiration to all of us to never give up till we achieve our goal.”

 

Mr. Kurian Parambi, Executive Director Human Resource, BPCL said, “Our 5 super heroes have led the surge in ending the 41 year drought of a medal in Hockey at the Olympics and given us an occasion to celebrate. The feeling of euphoria is reignited today.”
