Broadcasting policy: TRAI extends deadline for stakeholder comments

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has once again extended the deadline for stakeholders to submit comments on its pre-consultation paper titled 'National Broadcasting Policy' until November 7, 2023. This pre-consultation paper, which seeks inputs for shaping the national broadcasting policy, was originally issued on September 21, 2023.

Initially, the deadline for receiving comments was set for October 10, 2023. However, in response to requests from stakeholders for an extension, the deadline was first pushed to October 31, 2023.

Also, the deadline for stakeholders to provide comments on the issues raised in a consultation paper titled 'Review of Regulatory Framework for Broadcasting and Cable Services' has also been extended to November 1. Initially, the deadline was set for September 5, 2023, with a counter-comments deadline of September 19, 2023. These deadlines were subsequently extended to October 10, 2023, and October 25, 2023, respectively, due to requests for additional time.
