Chhattisgarh Tourism launches 'Wow Chhattisgarh' campaign!

The Chhattisgarh Tourism Board (CTB), today announced that "Chhattisgarh' has been chosen as the official state at display by the Ministry of Tourism, India for the month of December 2010. The Ministry of Tourism, responsible for the development and promotion of tourism in India, conferred this title to Chhattisgarh.

Chhattisgarh is celebrating its 10 years of an independent state. CTB along with the Govt. of Chhattisgarh are supporting the ten year celebrations by pronouncing Chhattisgarh as the destination for this New Year. Both CTB and Govt. of Chhattisgarh are promoting the 'Wow Chhattisgarh'; this new year discover something new' campaign.

Chhattisgarh, India's 26th state is easily accessible in central India. It is a treasure trove of natural beauty. A place untouched by time, Chhattisgarh is the perfect example of dense forests, meandering rivers and ancient architectural wonders can co-exist with mankind. Since almost 44% of the state area is under forest cover, there is ample opportunity to see wild animals in their natural habitat. The State is home to some of the country's biggest and most impressive waterfalls. It abounds in exquisitely carved temples, Buddhist sites, palaces, caves and hill plateaus. Tourists can also experience the culture of some of India's oldest tribes.

The Chhattisgarh Tourism Board right from its inception has been involved in developing the infrastructure and promoting the hospitality industry to make Chhattisgarh a state to be reckoned as the next holiday destination. Speaking on the occasion Subrat Sahoo, Secretary Tourism, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Chhattisgarh said, "The success of Chhattisgarh as a tourist destination has been largely due to the many offerings of the state such as its unique and rich cultural heritage. It is one of India's richest bio-diversity habitats; we are also committed to becoming a hub for bio-diesel." Speaking on Chhattisgarh as a destination for holiday, Sahoo further commented, "Chhattisgarh has some of the adventure sports and waterfalls and adventure theme parks."

Tapesh Jha, Managing Director, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, said, "We are very excited about the new Wow Chhattisgarh campaign. We are confident that most of inbound and outbound tourist will choose Chhattisgarh as their destination for New Year." Speaking on Chhattisgarh being chosen as the state at display, Jha further commented that, "About 100 people visit the Ministry of Tourism office in Mumbai every day, where we have our artifacts displayed and other promotional details available. We are confident that the influx of tourists will increase significantly during this December."

Ashutosh Sharma, Marketing Consultant, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board said, "CTB has ambitious roadmap for promotion of the state in domestic and international markets and many more such events shall follow soon."

Chhattisgarh offers some exciting range of tourist attractions to its visitors; India's biggest waterfall, most dense forest after the Amazon, most bio-diverse hot-spot, oldest tribal community, deepest living cave in the world with the oldest stalactite and stalagmite formations, the world's oldest amphitheatre, Asia's largest Catholic church, the largest twin Ganapati, carved from a single rock, delicious red ant chutney to name a few. The government of Chhattisgarh who is heavily promoting in building up this state has invested Rs. 200 crores in 48 properties hotels & motels and Rs. 100 crores in adventure theme park.
