City Explorers ties up with WazirX NFT on their #DiscoverIndia Campaign

2021 is the era of transformation powered by improvements in technology and communication. NFTs are the latest trend that we have witnessed, and they are here to stay. From Bollywood celebrities to sports stars, creators and collectors across sectors are embracing the NFT wave. The recent entrant City Explorers Pvt Ltd, is one such unique collaboration marking the travel industry’s foray into the world of crypto.

As part of this collaboration, five tourism imaginaries in the form of NFTs will be dropped.  With a renewed thought-line to help everyone explore the story of India and appreciate the efforts of the local communities, the drop is focusing on igniting the sense of ‘reimagining past in the present. A special invite will be extended to the NFT owners for an exclusive event curated by the India City Walks (three-time National Tourism Award Winner and flagship of City Explorers Pvt Ltd). The concept behind these digital artworks is about defining Indian roots and cultural heritage.

These NFT’s are designed in-house by India City Walks (ICW®) with a determination to create tourism knowledge. These NFTs are on the themes of future travel scenarios and for artists a perspective to bring social awareness through tourism. The utility is simple: explore the NFT on-ground in the form of a heritage walk after purchase and understand distinguishing factors of the depiction appropriated by stories.

Vishakha Singh, VP, WazirX NFT Marketplace said: “The pandemic caused significant losses to the tourism industry. With the entire world under lockdown for months, opportunities for income generation were limited. With this collaboration, we hope to inspire and educate people on the possibilities and highlight different use cases of NFTs.

NFTs are about innovation and creativity. With the introduction of the Travel sector on the blockchain, we believe we are rebuilding the future of travel. Players in the tourism sector have the opportunity to engage with our ever-increasing crypto and NFT community and create better travel experiences for them in the post-pandemic world. From travel agencies, publications, airlines, hospitality sector - EVERYONE can leverage NFTs.”

Commenting on the collaboration, Sachin Bansal, Chief Explorer and Founder, India City Walks said: “while curating and delivering experiential tourism services, we want people to explore India through art forms. Seeing the unique use cases of NFTs, one can say that they are here to stay. Connecting brands & people to a wider audience, India City Walks, a brand of City Explorers Pvt Ltd is introducing first of its kind concept of utility-based NFT drops in tourism with WazirX NFT Marketplace.

As a proud citizen of India, my endeavour has always been to uphold the cultural heritage of our country. With the passion to showcase India’s plural legacy to the global audience and bring recognition to our glorious ancient traditions, We have charted this journey with NFTs as one of the first initiatives in the tourism industry. It is time to recognize the artists, the people who work relentlessly in the background to make our travel memories happy and delightful. To the core of our contribution towards India’s cultural tourism preservation, awareness and tourism endeavours, we have been able to cover the entire Indian geography, its vibrant culture and heritage under an entrepreneurship lineage, attempting to craft a multitude of job opportunities and impacting community empowerment.”

NFT’s provide a unique way to reach a larger audience while serving as an additional source of revenue. Giving the power to creators, this collaboration opens possibilities for the travel industry to celebrate historic monuments by bridging the gap between physical and digital. With a shared vision of supporting artisanal communities through incubation, collaboration and entrepreneurship, this first-of-its-kind collaboration acts as a milestone to create new use-cases in the NFT world.
