D&AD's CEO, Tim Lindsay to present a speaker session at ADFEST 2013

Tim Lindsay, CEO of D&AD, is travelling from London to Thailand to present a Speaker Session at ADFEST 2013, which takes place on Sunday 17th March at 6pm.

Titled 'Saving the world is the only fit work for a grown-up. (With thanks to Steve Harrison and Howard Luke Gossage)', Lindsay’s Speaker Session will explore how companies are putting sustainability at the heart of their business.

“When I came into the advertising business in 1977, things were a lot simpler than they are today. Basically advertising interrupted people's lives in order to bash them over the head with repetitive messages,” says Lindsay.

“Happily, in the internet age, things are a lot more complicated and a lot more interesting. Marketing communications experts today can help rescue creative marketing communications from its pariah status, rehabilitate the business community and save the world.”

Lindsay believes power is now in favour of the customer, who will hold companies to account. “So the enormous challenge facing the advertising and design business worldwide is to develop the language, understanding and capabilities to give our clients the right advice and to lead the process,” he says.

Born in the UK and brought up in Africa, Lindsay has spent 34 years in advertising as joint managing director of BBH, becoming CEO, then European President, then Worldwide President of Lowe Howard-Spink/Lowe Lintas/Lowe Worldwide before becoming Chairman of Publicis UK and subsequently President of TBWA\UK and Ireland.

Tim became CEO of D&AD in September 2011. He is also Chairing the ADFEST+D&AD Academy, which takes place during ADFEST 2013 at 11.00-13.00 on 18th & 19th March, and is open to delegates aged 30 or under.

The ADFEST+D&AD Academy will give young creatives the chance to refine their creative problem-solving skills and prepare for the seismic shifts that are occurring within our industry.

D&AD is a membership organisation for the global design and advertising community. It promotes, stimulates and awards creative excellence in business communication. Not for profit, it provides material support for creative education and people around the world.

ADFEST 2013 runs from 17th -19th March at the Pattaya Exhibition & Conference Hall (PEACH), Royal Cliff Hotels Group, Thailand.
