Delhi HC adjourns Ad cap case till 20th Nov 2014

The Delhi High Court hearing the 10+2 ad cap case by the News Broadcasters Association (NBA), the lead petitioner in the matter and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has adjourned the case till 20th November 2014.

As per reports, the NBS has sought 10 days adjournment since senior counsel S Ganesh, was not present in view to other pending cases in Mumbai. We learn that the court has postponed the case till 20 November due to unavailability of dates before that.

However, advocate Saket Singh, the advocate for TRAI had stressed that the matter has already been pending in the court for more than 10 months.

For records, in the previous hearing (held of 15th July 2014), the Court had adjourned the case as the final hearing of the bunch of petitions challenging the ad cap sort to be imposed by TRAI as the authority has not finalised its rejoinder.

It may be recollected that the NBA had argued that the TRAI does not have authority to regulate commercial airtime on television channels.

Other members, apart from the NBA, who have filed petition, are Sarthak Entertainment, Pioneer Channel Factory, E24 Glamoru, Sun TV Network, TV Vision, B4U Broadband, 9X Media, Kalaignar, Celebrities Management, Eanadu Television and Raj Television.
