TV This Week | ZEE TV and SET gain viewership this week

On the TAM ratings charts this week, while most Hindi general entertainment channel’s performances were lukewarm, surprisingly, ZEE TV and Sony Entertainment Television have come out as positive players. Also, most Hindi movie channels have also recorded average numbers.

Star Plus tops the chart followed by Zee TV at No.2, Colors at No.3, Life OK takes the 4th position followed by SAB TV and SET at No.6 position.

As per viewership data sourced from TAM subscribers for week 38, 2014 (14th August – 20thSeptember) for CS 4+, HSM MARKETS, detailed below is the data of the top 6 GEC’s performance in week 38 along with previous week’s figures enlisted in the brackets:

Seated at the firs position, Star Plus has recorded decline of 579978million GVTs (gross TV viewership in million) as against 594923 million GVTs recorded last week.

At the second spot, Zee TV showed growth this week in viewership and received 442526 million GVTs as against 431746.As per TAM data, the channel’s new show Bandhan has been the second highest opener show across GECs in the year 2014 with 4366 TVTs; this the channel believes has helped in viewership growth of the channel. Taking note of the previous year’s ratings, the highest rated opening show so far has been Jamai Raja followed by Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se :5341 TVT's (now off air) and latest to join the list is Bandhan: 4366 TVT's.

Colors at no. 3 showed decline in viewership of 412405 million GVTs as compared to last 416675 week.

Placed at no. 4 position, Life OK also showed decline with 294679 million GVT’s against 313012 last week.

Showing decline in viewership, at the fifth spot, SAB TV registered 269045 million GVTs against 292474million GVTs last week.

Registering growth, SET recorded a viewership of 263802 million GVTs as against 262507 in the last week.

New channels on the block, Zindagi and Sony Pal too received growth. While Zindagi received growth of 31528 GVT's as compared to 30016 last week, Sony Pal grew by 24234 GVT's as against 20881 last week.

Following is the market-wise program performance of Hindi Movie channels in week 38 2014:
Z Cinema tops the chart and registered viewership of 203840 GVT’s against recorded 192556 last week. Sony Max at No.2 recorded 179319 GVT's showing decline as compared to 202265 GVT's last week. Star Gold at No. 3 position also faced decline with 173418 GVTs as against 181265 GVT's last week. Movies OK at No.4 position showed growth with 157486 GVT's compared to 152285 GVT's last week. & Pictures is at No.5 with 81284 showed decline as compared to 81914 GVT's last week followed by UTV Movies with 75208 GVT's as compare to 78106 GVT's in week 37. Sony Max2 showed growth of 55314 GVT's as compared to 48314 GVT's last week.
