Discovery Channel announced the launch of Telugu language feeds

Discovery Channel, India's non-fiction entertainment channel, announced the launch of its new Telugu language feed for millions of Telugu-speaking viewers in India specifically targeting the viewers of Andhra Pradesh.

The launch of the Telugu feed co-incides with the celebration of Discovery Channel's 15 years in India. Launched on October 1, the additional language choice is now available every day from 6 pm till midnight and will soon be transformed into a 24-hour parallel feed. All programmes and their airing schedule remain the same as the English, Hindi and Tamil feeds.

Announcing the development, Rahul Johri, senior vice president & general manager, India, Discovery Networks Asia Pacific, said, "Discovery Channel has always been committed towards satisfying viewers' curiosity through its magnetic and entertaining programmes and in a way that most appeals to its viewers. A part of channel's localisation strategy, introduction of these regional language feeds help to increase channel's connection with its viewers, who can now watch their favourite shows in the language they most prefer and understand.

Johri, further added, "This strategy is backed by comprehensive research and supported by an efficient dubbing process and a strong distribution infrastructure to ensure that Discovery Channel who were the pioneers in introducing regional language service in India continues to retain its leadership position."
