Elon Musk limits no of tweets users can read in a day

Twitter CEO Elon Musk recently announced new limits on the number of tweets users can read per day. In a tweet, Musk stated that verified accounts would be limited to reading 6000 posts per day, unverified accounts to 600 posts per day, and new unverified accounts to 300 posts per day. This decision was made to address the challenges associated with excessive data scraping and system manipulation.

However, just before Musk's tweet went live, numerous Twitter users reported difficulties in accessing the platform on July 1st, 2023. Shortly after, Musk tweeted again, stating that the rate limits would soon be updated. The new limits would allow verified accounts to read 8000 posts per day, unverified accounts to read 800 posts per day, and new unverified accounts to read 400 posts per day. On Saturday, users attempting to post or access tweets received error messages such as "Cannot Retrieve Tweets" and "Rate Limit Exceeded."

According to a report by Pathamatics, Twitter's advertising expenditure has significantly decreased. Over the past year, Twitter spent $71 million on ads, but in the last two months, that number dropped to $7.6 million, marking an 89% reduction in ad revenue contribution. Some of Twitter's top ad customers, including Amazon, IBM, Coca-Cola, and HBO, have been affected by this decline. These changes in ad revenue have occurred following Elon Musk's acquisition of the microblogging site.
