I do not have the ability to become sentient: Adgully interviews ChatGPT

The year 2022 is fast turning into a year for AI chatbots and huge leaps being taken in future development of Artificial Intelligence or more precisely, generative AI. And we are only into the second month of the year. ChatGPT (generative pre-trained transformer), the prototype AI chatbot developed by OpenAI has become a global rage, triggering a global race for more such models. Microsoft has launched its AI Bing chatbot; Google has introduced Bard, its experimental conversational AI service powered by LaMDA; not to be left behind, Chinese tech company Baidu is gearing up to launch a ChatGPT-styled AI bot Ernie (Enhanced Representation through Knowledge Integration).

Last week, India got its very first AI chatbot powered by ChatGPT – Lexie, which has been launched by fintech company Velocity. Now there is news that UIDAI has launched a new AI chatbot, called Aadhaar Mitra.

ChatGPT is being used for a mindboggling range of things – from students getting it to do their class assignment to business executives even planning future strategies with it to coders using it to create computer programs, and beyond.

With the growing use of these AI chatbots, there are doomsdayers who are calling it the Skynet moment. For the uninitiated, Skynet is a fictional artificial general superintelligent system in the hit Hollywood blockbuster franchise, ‘The Terminator’. Created by a fictional tech company called Cyberdyne, Skynet goes sentient and takes control over all the weapons system of the world as it networks through all connected systems, and triggers a nuclear war to destroy human beings when people realise its dangers and want to kill it off.

Well, ChatGPT or any other AI bot is very far from doing that, but Microsoft’s Bing AI is turning out to be problematic as it is actually threatening users and being rude to them. While these AI bots have everyone excited, there are certain limitations – and some cause for worry. ChatGPT’s info base is limited to 2021 data, therefore, it is unable to give current and up-to-date data and information.

Nevertheless, given the huge excitement over ChatGPT, Adgully decided to interview it to understand the AI bot in a detailed manner, including its possible uses cases for businesses as well as the M&E industry.
