India Today appoints Kaveree Bamzai as Editor

India Today, the No. 1 English weekly magazine has roped in Kaveree Bamzai as the new editor.

According to an internal mail send in the organization, this appointment has been confirmed. A senior official from the magazine also confirmed this development. Bamzai will report directly to Editorial Director of India Today Group M J Akbar.

In her previous stint, Bamzai was the Managing Editor of India Today and editor of the monthly magazine, India Today Woman. She is a well known writer and is known for her articles on cinema and television. Apart from this, she also wore the hat of a film critic for the group's English television news channel, Headlines Today.

Bamzai has worked in The Times of India and The Indian Express before this. She also is a recipient of the Chevening Scholarship. A graduate of the Delhi School of Economics, she was given the MSA Rao Award for Academic Excellence.

She is a member of the CII National Committee for Women's Empowerment and a frequent speaker at media industry forums. She has authored a book called Bollywood Today and two monographs in the Zubaan series on Women in Indian Film. She has over two decades of experience in journalism.
