Indian students lay too much stress on their undergraduate grades: MBAEase's Unnati Patel

It is a one-stop-destination for hundreds for students who aspire to secure their MBA admissions in Universities of in Europe and USA. New York based sisters Unnati Patel and Uttama Patel are first generation entrepreneurs who have founded a unique venture that provides tailor made service to applicants seeking to differentiate themselves when applying to American and European business schools.

The duo's website ' www.mbaease.com has guided and helped people through the entire process from initial thought starters to final interview preparation. MBAEase has recently entered the Indian arena and is currently offering its services to potential applicants. The duo is so confident of their unique solutions to successful admissions in top MBA programs that they even offer a 15 minute free consultation for potential applicants.

After graduating from Harvard Business School, Unnati Patel joined a top American retailer to start a career in sourcing and operations. But soon she realized that her passion lay in the education field. Having worked and lived in several countries around the world, Unnati was uniquely positioned to focus her attention on helping international students get into business schools in the US and Europe. Furthermore her experiences of applying to and completing a MBA program allowed her to truly understand what the requirements and expectations of these universities were. Unnati was admitted to every business school that she applied to.

From brain storming sessions and essay editing to help with recommendations and interview prep up sessions, the MBAEase team provides full service to its clients. The founding members of MBAEase are graduates from Harvard Business School, Cambridge University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, London School of Economics and Northwestern University and have a huge amount of experience in retail, IT and media industry in US and UK. Given this unique position they are also well-versed in helping students pick Universities that will enhance their chances of being successful in the field they are looking to enter upon graduation.

MBAEase helps students understand what American and European Universities are truly looking for. They can't emphasize enough that each University has its own individual values that they are seeking in their candidates and as a result, the essays need to reflect those particular values. For example, in a Harvard application it is important to emphasize leadership in a consistent manner, but this may not be the case for a Kellogg or Insead application.

Furthermore, the team had divided up the editors based on their experience. While Unnati and her team focuses on guiding the all-important content of the essays, Uttama Patel, the co-founder of MBA Ease brings with her a strong editorial and technical expertise. A graduate of the University of Cambridge and founder of South Asian Parent magazine, Uttama is now using her extensive experience in journalism, creative writing, and education to ensure applicants submit flawless essays. No piece of writing goes through MBA Ease without being stringently assessed by Uttama. She seeks to help applicants acquire a professional writing style that instills confidence and conveys a superior grasp of language and communication.

"The most common mistake Indian students make is to take content on face value. When questions on leadership skills are asked, they focus on their outstanding performance at school and leadership is equated with grades. In fact, Indian students lay too much stress on their undergraduate grades, which does not work in the top US, UK Universities. Everyone applying already has good grades and high GMAT scores and you need to show that you bring more to the program than your historic analytical abilities," explains Unnati.

There are at least 10 highly qualified applicants to each University seat in US and UK. So the GMAT or GPA scores are not really the determining factor, but in fact what matters is how the applicant is able to portray life experiences to meet the expectations of the University they are applying to. The only way to do this is through a well-drafted essay that makes one a unique candidate, informs Uttama.

So what would be their one solid piece of advice to Indian students? "Having an open mind is very important rather than zeroing down on a particular University. Everyone wants to go to Harvard or a Stanford, but there other great options out there, which will increase the candidates chances of getting jobs in some of the most competitive industries in the US and the UK. For example, Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College has a great business program, or for that matter even Ross at University of Michigan," states Unnati. The company's success in placing students in the top schools in US and UK has truly been unmatched and their secret "tailoring solution method" of answering the essay questions is almost as good as a guarantee.

The duo is very excited to enter India and is confident of their success. "Each B school has different requirements and guiding principles and the candidates' essays need to show that they meet these special requirements. There are thousands of applicants from India every quarter and MBAEase promises to give them a holistic perspective on all aspects of the admission process to ensure entry into the B-school of their choice," says Unnati.
