LinkedIn at 100 Mn!

As on 22nd March, 2011, LinkedIn, a professional social networking site started in May 2003 has registered a whooping number of 100 million users. It has now become one of the largest professional networks worldwide. According to the statistics LinkedIn has a steady growth of roughly one million new LinkedIn members every week, the equivalent of a professional joining the site at faster than one member per second. However in India LinkedIn has just hit about 9 million users this month. LinkedIn is growing rapidly and with a revenue generation of nearly 250 million dollars this website will definitely attract more investors.

LinkedIn started out in the living room of co-founder Reid Hoffman in 2002.The site officially launched on May 5, 2003. At the end of the first month in operation, LinkedIn had a total of 4,500 members in the network. The company is privately held and has a diversified business model with revenues coming from user subscriptions, advertising sales and hiring solutions.

Today, LinkedIn is available in six languages, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish, and operates in more than 200 countries thus opening the door to cater to more clients.
