Lokmat gets a facelift; Changes format and presentation

From time to time newspaper publishers are faced with the challenge of sustaining their brand as credible sources of information and a premier advertising medium. They achieve this by devising new means to keep the connect going by constantly keeping in touch with its readers. Lokmat the market leader in Maharashtra did just that when it unveiled its new look both in format and presentation on 15th May with their Marathi editions.

Speaking of this change Dinkar Raikar, Group Editor, Lokmat Media Ltd said "The new look of the newspaper fulfils the need of the readers. We have introduced various new sections in the newspaper that include new sports and business pages. As per the new editorial policy, we will try to follow a positive tone with a focus on positive stories".

Shorter stories, a Maharashtra centrespread with zonal news, statistics wherever possible to enhance information, Khuli Charcha a discussion forum that will integrate and converge with the online website and improved quality of coverage are few of the changes that one sees on its pages. The fresh content will boast a reader friendly and positive tone offering better connect with its readers. Additionally the sports page will cover Local sports and interschool tournaments.

A defined color palette makes the pages more attractive and disciplined. A smart story hierarchy has been created allowing a smooth transition from the lead, second lead, and single column and anchor stories on the page resulting in 35% extra space to carry more news as compared to the earlier one" a great news for the reader."
