MY FM honours women athletes, launches an intiative ‘Khelne Do’

Since the turn of the millennium, various sports in India have seen a massive rise in the number of its female athletes shining at the world stage; be it hockey, cricket or the Olympics. In a country where sports are dominated by men, these women are inspiring millions of aspiring girls to play for their dreams. They are not only winning laurels at the international stage but are doing so by shattering societal prejudices along a path that’s mostly uncharted. To honour such players, MY FM dedicated this year’s Navratras to 9 outstanding women with an initiative ‘Khelne Do’.

Across 9 days of this year’s Navratra, Savita Punia, Deepa Malik, Avani Lekhara, Bhavina Patel, Sonam Malik, Pooja Rani, Sakshi Malik, Anesha Banu and Bhavana Jaat shared their awe-inspiring stories with MY FM. The athletes discussed how they faced challenges from their families, relatives and various people from the society who forced them to opt out of sports. But their passion and determination made way for their glory.

Rahul Namjoshi, COO, MY FM adds “Navratras celebrate the creation, battle and victory of Goddess Durga. We, at MY FM, thought of celebrating this with stories of real battles and victories by Indian women. Traditional rules often keep women from realizing their dreams and creating history. With ‘Khelne Do’, we wanted to sensitize young women to break these shackles and step out to make a difference”.
