Online gaming companies in talk with state government

Online gaming companies are in talk with the state governments regarding their concerns about the implementation of gaming regulations highlighted by the central government earlier this year.

The Gaming Industry Association, along with the E-Gaming Federation, All India Gaming Federation, and Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports, are raising concerns about the possibility of states banning certain online games, despite their compliance with central regulations.

These industry bodies are approaching the state governments of Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Assam and Telangana.

Gaming companies have reportedly informed the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology that even with the recently notified central rules, the matters of gambling and betting remain under the jurisdiction of the states. Therefore, the states hold the power to prohibit such games if they choose to do so.
