Pearl Puri on his journey from TV to Yaariyan 2

Pearl Puri, the well-known TV actor, has made his debut in Bollywood with Yaariyan 2. He has been in the industry since a decade but his aim to become a film actor has fulfilled now.
Sharing his journey in the industry, Pearl says: “I don’t have objections for working in television. Whatever I am today is because of my work on TV. But I always wanted to do films. I know my TV audience will watch me in films since I have received a lot of love from them. Before I started television, I signed an offer in a film called ‘A Major’ but it did not take off.”
Sharing his initial struggle in the industry, Pearl says: “There was a time in my life when I didn’t eat for 9 days. Moreover, I have survived by just eating paanipuri for a month. I did not want to share all these struggle stories but then I thought that my story might inspire someone. That time taught me a lot. After my first film didn’t take off, I started doing commercials, which fetched me roles in television.”
Pearl had wanted to become an actor but had come to Mumbai for his former girlfriend. However, that relationship couldn’t last long but he has no regrets for that. He said: “I only have gratitude in my heart for her as she is responsible for my career. The relationship went on for 9 years but then we parted ways.”
Sharing one of his rejection stories, Pearl says: “Initially when I used to go for auditions, I remember there used to be assistants to the main casting director and before appearing for the main auditions they used to declare me ‘not fit’. The first time I heard that, I felt hurt. But I have always believed in my acting talent, I feel your look is secondary and acting comes first. Whenever I am in front of camera I feel happy and that’s my biggest possession.”
Pearl also shares his emotional bonding with his fans. His fans had recently performed ‘Rudrabhishek’ before the release of his film. He says: “People are not aware that every night before I sleep, I pray for my fans. I really don’t know what I have done to receive so much love from them. I just want to entertain them through my craft.”
