Rajesh Mahapatra to lead The Secretariat, a platform for policy analysis

SML Digital Media Pvt. Ltd. has announced that it launch The Secretariat, a portal aimed at debunking and analyzing government policies and governance in India, the fifth largest economy in the world.
This initiative is led by Rajesh Mahapatra, a former Editor of PTI and a seasoned journalist. The Secretariat is set to go live on November 1, 2023, and is committed to offering non-partisan insights into policies that impact various aspects of society, economy, technology, and the environment.
Kajal Vadodaria, the Director at SML Digital Media Pvt. Ltd, which is behind The Secretariat, stated that they will primarily concentrate on five major themes: Sustainability, Digitalizing Economy, Urbanizing India, Geo-economics, and the Future of Work.
Vadodaria added that their coverage will place a significant emphasis on understanding the functioning of the Indian bureaucracy at the central and state levels, as well as the processes involved in policy-making and the individuals involved in these processes.
Rajesh Mahapatra mentioned that The Secretariat aims to provide content that is not only informative but also offers valuable insights in a quick and engaging manner. The platform is designed to cater to both investors and knowledge seekers interested in comprehending India.
Mahapatra also noted that The Secretariat will adopt a "less-is-more" approach to create stories that stand out by offering high-impact analysis, exclusive insights, and comprehensive reporting. They aim to maintain a contemporary, stylish voice while being open to diverse views and opinions rather than promoting dogmatism.
The Secretariat will follow a freemium model, allowing access to a curated set of policy news for free, while most of the content will be accessible behind a paywall.
Vadodaria mentioned that SML Digital has assembled a strong product and tech team over the past year to ensure high-quality digital storytelling by The Secretariat. They plan to incorporate technologies such as AI to provide captivating content that justifies a paid subscription.
The Secretariat is poised to become a valuable resource for individuals seeking in-depth insights into Indian government policies and governance, with a focus on key themes and a commitment to high-quality, non-partisan analysis.
