Second edition of 'Simply the Blues' concert series is back in Mumbai

The second edition of ‘SIMPLY THE BLUES’ concert series is all set to take place in the city on 21st November at the St. Andrews Auditorium in Bandra. The upcoming Blues concert has performances by renowned Mumbai band, Blackstratblues, featuring Warren Mendonsa and special guests. Also, sharing the stage with them would be the  Blues quartet from Bangalore, Ministry of Blues.

Conceptualized and produced by STARKONNECT EVENTS & PROMOTIONS, this on-ground event is planned as a four part concert series, with one event every month. Blues Music festivals in India, are few and far between and this event will promote Blues music not just in Mumbai, but expand its reach across India. SIMPLY THE BLUES was created to provide a credible and consistent platform to Indian Blues artists from across the country.

Ms. Joyce Arora, Co-Founder, StarKonnect, said, “Appreciation of Blues music, is no longer confined to the mature audience that relishes it. We found a ‘listening shift’ taking place for this genre, with a much younger crowd embracing and enjoying the music. SIMPLY THE BLUES has been planned to create a wider appreciation for this beautiful art form. It is heartening to see a whole lot of young musicians taking to this genre, not just in Mumbai, but across the country. We intend to showcase this talent by providing them an opportunity to perform on a larger stage, other than the normal pub gigs that they are confined to. Exposure to a wider audience, on a regular basis, is just the push needed to spread awareness about Blues music in India, and multiply the appreciation for this ‘music of the soul’. The standing ovation received by the bands, at the end of the first concert, has given us the confidence to nurture and grow this property.”

Festival Director, Luke Kenny, says, “We have designed the property to create the right ambience for the Blues. These talented Indian Bluesmen add their own distinct flavor to the music, thereby providing the audience an eclectic and vibrant feel that they can immerse themselves into.”

The two bands for this event are sure to re-define the Blues set. The MINISTRY OF BLUES from Bangalore, open the evening. Comprising of Vinoo Matthew, Philipe Haydon, Rauf and Kishore, these guys beleive in interpreting the Blues classics in  a style that's fresh, fast and furious. A high-energy act defines their gig...MoB is very, very serious about their work. They are so serious that they call themselves “non-professional, seriously professional musicians”. Blackstratblues brings on a set that’s stylish and new. Mumbai's favourite Axeman has a stunning technique, weaving subtly into the musical tapestry of completely realised songs, rather than mere vehicles for a vulgar display of ability. With golden tones and unassailable taste and touch, Mendonsa echoes Gilmour and Johnson. With a bunch of Special Guests set to jam with him on stage...SIMPLY THE BLUES is going to take on a whole new meaning.
