Shilpa Rao croons for Shahrukh Khan starrer Jawan

Renowned singer Shilpa Rao recently revealed the incredible journey behind her collaboration with music composer Anirudh Ravichander on Chaleya, a captivating romantic song featuring Bollywood icon Shahrukh Khan. The song, exuding freshness and newness, is set to enrapture listeners with its soaring melodies and addictive charm.

Shilpa Rao, known for her soulful vocals and versatility, shared her enchanting experience of how the collaboration came to fruition. "I was actually chilling in Goa when we got a call from Pooja Dadlani, Shah Rukh's manager. She said that sir wants you to sing the song, and Anirudh is the composer, so he will get in touch," Shilpa recounted. Anirudh swiftly reached out to her, and within days, Shilpa found herself in Chennai recording the song.

The synergy between Shilpa and Anirudh was apparent from the moment they met. "I love this energy, Anirudh. When they are recording, and I completely agree, we have a similar thought process when it comes to work," Shilpa explained. The duo's collaboration resulted in a quick and remarkable recording process. "In 20 minutes, we recorded the full song. It was done, and it was a great recording," she added.

Describing her initial reaction to the song, Shilpa gushed, "It was actually very refreshing the moment I heard the song. It has something new. It sounded so fresh, and I instantly fell in love with the song." The romantic track carries a unique blend of emotions that resonate with Shilpa. "It's a romantic song, but it had such a beautiful, let me say, sound to it. I think I fell in love with its newness," she shared.

Shilpa's connection with Anirudh extended beyond the studio. "The first time I met him was in Chennai. We were recording for Jawan, and I think the energy was tremendous. In 20 minutes, we recorded the full song. It was done, and it was a great recording," Shilpa reminisced. The collaborative atmosphere between the two artists played a crucial role in bringing the song to life. "We like to be in the same room, and I feel that when you are in the same room with your collaborator, the energy is different and it works better," she noted.

The song ‘Chaleya’, which encapsulates the essence of first love, struck a chord with Shilpa from the first listen. "That was the first time I heard the song that Anirudh sent to me. I was hearing nonstop that it was very addictive. It reminds you of what your first love should be. It sounds like it should be soaring. It should be free. It should be as if you are flying, and I hope that whoever listens to it feels the same way," Shilpa expressed with enthusiasm. 

The song's essence promises to linger in hearts and evoke the essence of first love. Chaleya is out now on all platforms.
