TaCa Healthcare launches #LetsTalkPiles campaign

Celebrating World Piles Day, TaCa Healthcare, India’s fastest growing ethical and sustainable health-tech start-up,  today launches the #Let’sTalkPiles Campaign.  According to various medical journals published, more than 10 million new piles cases are reported in India every year.

#Let’sTalkPiles Campaign intend to spread high-decibel awareness about the complications of ignoring piles and motivating people to seek appropriate treatment without any delay.

Piles or haemorrhoids are one of the most common problems of the rectum, affecting both men and women. Piles are troublesome and should not be taken lightly. Timely treatment can avoid complications. “Sedentary lifestyle, irregular eating habits, increased use of refined flours lead to constipation, the most common cause of piles. At TaCa, we want to spread awareness about piles so that people who are suffering from piles silently seek medical help,” says Bidhan Chowdhury, founder, TaCa Healthcare.

Every year, 20th November is celebrated as ‘World Piles day’ with a purpose of spreading awareness about piles. The week-long digital campaign will  have cutting-edge educational short movies, podcasts, posters, photographs, webinars with doctor,  among others. One of the campaign videos deals with the hesitation women feel while talking to a doctor about piles. Another video aims to educate people about the need to consult a doctor and let the doctor decide the treatment. “We often get patients who come to us and tell us what treatment they want. What they don’t understand is the fact that piles can be categorised into many stages. And only after physical examination of the patient can a doctor decide the appropriate treatment,” says Dr Shabeer Ahmed, a senior colorectal surgeon, TaCa Centre for Surgery, Bangalore. “At times we like to use the latest technology and there are times when we like to take conservative approach to treatment.”

Seventy five percent of people suffer from piles at some point in their lives. Most susceptible to the development of piles are pregnant women or women after childbirth. Every second pregnant woman suffers from piles during pregnancy. Excess weight gain at the time of pregnancy increases pelvic pressure and enhances the risk of developing piles in women.

Piles are the result of swollen veins in the lower anus and rectum and can lead to discomfort, itching, pain,  formation of lumps in and around the anus. It can cause bleeding and lead to anaemia.

With the campaign, Taca Healthcare wants to create a platform for women where they can talk about their diseases without any embarrassment and fear of society.
