Television is the best medium to reach out limitlessly: Mallika Sherawat

Mallika Sherawat who has starred in Bollywood films like 'Murder', 'Bachke Rehna Re Baba', 'Pyar Ke Side Effects', 'Welcome', 'Ugly Aur Pagli' and her recent film 'Kismat Love Paisa Dilli' has always been known for her bold onscreen attitude in films . She is also one of the few Bollywood stars who has made an effort  to crossover to Hollywood with films like Hisss (2010) andPolitics of Love (2011).

Sherawat is now all set to star in the Indian version of the American reality dating show The Bachelorette through which she will select her Mr. Perfect. The Indian version aptly named The Bachelorette India - Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika follows the same format as the US show, with 30 contestants vying for the single bachelorette.

Speaking about her involvement in the show, Sherawat said: "I have been portrayed as a bold and glamorous girl. Through this show, people will get to see my emotional and sensitive side. I think the reach of TV today is limitless, while my reach is limited." At one of the recent conferences she said, “I want to reach out to my friends limitlessly and I feel that television in India has limitless reach and so the best medium for me to explore.”

She went on to say, “ Yes, I am searching for a life long companion, the right match for me, as I need love and companionship and I hope to get him through this show.” Adding further she said “My expectations of a Mr. Perfect is similar to what a girl living in the rural or urban area dreams of. For me love is wisdom and it  cannot be explained in terms of age, demographics or money and I feel in this country every woman should have the right to choose her own perfect match.” 

According to her  Karan Johar is the perfect bachelor in Bollywood. She considers him to be charming , successful and a man with integrity.

With this show Mallika’s fans will get to watch her virtual as well as emotional side as she finally selects her Mr. Perfect.

Elaborating on why she wants to get into television, she explained. “I have done enough of ultra-glamorous roles and item songs and now I want to do performance-oriented roles.”

In terms of films, Mallika will soon be seen in a desi avatar for her forthcoming film 'Dirty Politics', where she’s playing the role of Anokhi Devi. The story is based on Jodhpur's Bhanwari Devi, who was killed mysteriously after her alleged relationship with politicians.
