Times Group split: A new era of focused leadership begins

Times Group is undergoing a strategic split as the long-standing dispute between brothers Samir Jain and Vineet Jain reaches a resolution. The separation, finalised recently, entails a partition of assets and responsibilities.

As per reports, Samir Jain will assume control over the print business segment, including digital assets aligned with print operations. Meanwhile, Vineet Jain will take charge of the broadcast, radio, and entertainment divisions, along with their associated digital assets. Furthermore, Vineet will receive a substantial cash settlement, commensurate with the size and prominence of the print business, which boasts the flagship publication, The Times of India.

In addition to the aforementioned divisions, the equally valued assets of Times Internet, a prominent internet technology company, and the real estate holdings will be equitably distributed between the two parties.

It is noteworthy that the Times Group boasts ownership of the largest publishing company in India and South Asia, Bennett, Coleman and Company Limited (BCCL). Additionally, it encompasses the influential Times Network, managing a portfolio of numerous news and English entertainment television channels. Times Internet, a thriving internet technology enterprise, spearheads a range of investments, operations, and services in the digital realm. Lastly, the group has a presence in the real estate technology market.

Recent developments have seen BCCL consolidating its subsidiary entities, effectively integrating them into its own structure.

Renowned industrialist Harsh Goenka has confirmed the finality of the settlement via a tweet, expressing his satisfaction with the resolution. “Delighted that the Times of India group matter has been successfully settled. Samir Jain now presides over the print business, while Vineet leads the digital, television, and entertainment ventures. All’s well that ends well!” he shared, encapsulating the positive outcome of the process.

This transformative split has reshaped the landscape of the Times Group, ushering in a new era with focused leadership at the helm.
