Viacom18 appoints K. Aravamudhan as Head of Public Policy Portfolio

K. Aravamudhan, the Executive Director (Government Affairs) at The Walt Disney Company, will be joining Viacom18 as the head of its public policy portfolio. During his tenure at Disney Star, he held the responsibility of overseeing regulatory affairs and industry relations for various divisions, including regional channels, sports broadcasting and leagues (Star Sports), movie production and distribution (Star Studios), and the OTT platform Disney+Hotstar.

Aravamudhan's association with Star India began in 2007 when he joined as the Manager of Corporate Communication. In 2008, he transitioned to the regulatory team. Prior to his time at Star, he held positions at Hindustan Times (Eyewitness and Home TV), SAB TV, UTV, ITV (producing news and current affairs shows), and Star News (MCCS).

Aravamudhan played a significant role in strengthening Star India's leadership position by actively engaging with various government stakeholders, including political executives, bureaucrats, regulators, industry veterans, influencers, and journalists. His extensive experience allows him to closely witness the evolution of the Indian broadcasting sector, from the privatization of DD channels to the proliferation of over 900 TV channels. He actively participated in numerous policy and regulatory initiatives undertaken by the government of India and Star India.

In addition, Aravamudhan is associated with several industry bodies such as FICCI, CII, USIBC, USISPF, BIF, IAMAI, Assocham, IBDF, ASCI, and PGI, among others.
