WarnerMedia names Wee Shi Ming as Head of Entertainment content acquisition NA

Wee Shi Ming has been appointed to the position of head of entertainment content acquisition for North Asia. He  will report to Magdalene Ew, WarnerMedia's Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong head of content – entertainment.

This is the third senior position hire by WarnerMedia in Asia to enhance its original productions teams ahead of the launch of HBO Max in the region.

Schwebig commented, “These are vital roles as we look to ramp up our original content and programming ambitions in this region. Saugata, Mark and Shi Ming have a great eye for a winning project and have enviable connections within the industry. With them all now in place over the past few months, we’re looking in great shape to entertain local audiences with a well-rounded and premium slate.”

Wee Shi Ming joined the content acquisition team in late 2021 and will be responsible for securing titles in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Anime. Wee was previously the head of acquisition and programming for Asian content at Viu and Sony Pictures Television Networks. Wee now reports to Ew alongside Katheryn Lim, who is in charge of content acquisition for international and English-language entertainment properties.
