When you break down the top favourites for the ICC World Cup, you will see that five teams are going to be competing for the two final spots. You have Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and South Africa. Bangladesh are going to be competing as well. When you look at the ICC T20I rankings, you will soon see that five teams are in the form that puts them way ahead of the cricket world. Three of them are in the first group. Three into two, doesn’t quite go. This means that South Africa, New Zealand or Australia have the potential to miss out. Sri Lanka or even Bangladesh could spring a surprise, but this is not likely to say the least. At the end of the day, it is so important to look at the schedule and to make sure that you understand every team. If you use cricket betting apps then it is even more important that you stay up to date, so be mindful of that if you can.

The Schedule

Sri Lanka and South Africa are both getting their tournament underway right now. This is happening in Cape Town. There is going to be a huge clash here. Both the teams have  a lot of potential but there can only be one winner. Australia, right now, are ranked as being the best team in the world. They are also defending the T20 World-Cup as well. They are looking to retain their title once again and this is great to say the least. If you want to find out more about why Australia is so great then you just need to look at their track record. They have been beaten a number of times by Group 1 sides, especially New Zealand. When you look at the World Cup cycle, you will see that they have been taken over by India and that this happened last year. Since then, they have slipped a warm-up loss to the Ireland team. This happened ahead of the tournament.

The Other Contenders

New Zealand are three in the ranking and they have come into the tournament as of late. They possess some of the best players on the market. Amelia Kerr and Sophie Devine are going to get into most, if not every team that is competing. If they do manage to get through then they will need some serious stopping. If you look at the data then you will also see that South Africa have been serious contenders for quite some time. They have reached the semi-finals in the last three years and they have 50-over cricket teams as well. They have made the final four in the last two years and it would seem that they have managed to beat out New Zealand as well. The eventual finalists, who would be England, also ventured to the semi-final a year ago. At the end of the day, there is quality in the line-up and that everyone is going to be eyeing up a semi-final berth once again.

The Outsiders

Sri Lanka have yet to reach the T20 World Cup but right now it looks like the signs are all good. The Lankans are looking decent and they have performed very well in the warm-up games.  They have a much higher level of strength with the bat and this should take a lot of pressure off Chamari Athapaththu. Even though this player is outstanding, it would seem that more has to be done to make sure that they are given the chance to succeed. A lot of that comes down to having a team who are able to perform at the same level, but at the end of the day, this can change depending on the competition, the season and the current injury list.

 Bangladesh are Not Slowing Down

Even though Bangladesh are the lowest team out of the five selections, they are showing some very fast and encouraging signs. They are in the Group 1 selection but they have proven time and time again that they have the potential for greatness. Three youngsters from the under-19 squad have done so well, even in the South African conditions. They did this last month and they are in the senior set-up too. Shorna Akter, Marufa Akter and Disha Biswas have since made the step-up and are thriving as a result.
