Women leading online search trends in Bollywood, sports & politics

The era of women empowerment in India has reached its epitome with women ruling real world and internet alike. The ‘Women’s Day’ study conducted by SEMrush, the online visibility management, and content marketing SaaS platform, for International Women’s Day, analyzed the online search trends from 2017 to 2019 for most searched women in the spheres of Bollywood, Sports, and Politics. The study revealed Deepika Padukone, the Bollywood superstar, as the most searched Indian women with an average monthly search volume of 1189800 from January 2017 to January 2019, followed by Bollywood stars Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt.

The study also highlighted Sania Mirza as the most searched Indian women sportsperson with an average monthly search volume of 198640 and Sonia Gandhi as the most search women politician with an average monthly search volume of 103720. The list of top 30 most searched women in India also includes famous Indian women personalities like Sonia Gandhi, Sushma Swaraj, Nirmala Sitharaman, Mayawati, PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Geeta Phogat, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and others.

The ‘Women’s Day’ Study by SEMrush also established ‘What is feminism?’ as the most searched question related to feminism with an average monthly search volume of 116K from January 2017 to January 2019. With the increasing trends of ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ across the industry, Indian women have also strengthened their position in society.
