YouTube adds new Shorts Shelf to ‘Trending’ Tab

YouTube has announced a new Shorts Shelf display on its Trending page in this era of short-form video trend. This feature will highlight the best performing Shorts clips, in your region, at any given time. The update should help gain more traffic to the top content putting more focus on the popular Shorts clips.

Shorts clips is already very popular as it has surpassed 5 trillion cumulative views. This new update will reduce one’s research efforts and also help understand what people in their target market are watching on Shorts. YouTube is now looking out new Shorts tabs on desktop, tablet and the web, giving the user many engagement ways and user-friendly experience. YouTube remains the biggest threat to TikTok despite its ongoing growth because it has more money-making options which is working as a key for creators. YouTube can get the creators paid consistently while on TikTok you need to move into sponsored content or product endorsement to generate the same revenue levels.

In 2021, YouTube paid its creators close to $15 billion while TikTok generated $4.6 billion in total. Shorts may not be as good as TikTok but it will not matter in the end as it is working as an additional avenue for driving traffic.
