Zee Classic to air blockbuster hit Teesri Manzil on 21st January

With the best melodies and action packed together, the 1966 Box Office hit Teesri Manzil is a true musical thriller in every sense and continues to be one of the most appreciated films even today. Zee Classic with its proposition Woh Zamaana Kare Deewana will air this classic on Sunday, 21st January 2018 at 12 noon, as a part of the Nasir Hussain Film Festival.

Teesri Manzil was Produced and directed by none other than Nasir Hussain. The movie starred Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh as the lead, along with Laxmi Chhaya, Premnath, Prem Chopra, Iftekhar, Helen, K. N. Singh and Salim Khan in supporting roles. But a Nasir Hussain movie is incomplete without music and Teesri Manizil has a phenomenal combination with music composed by RD Burman, songs sung by the deadly duo - Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi while the lyricist was the eminent Majrooh sultan Puri.

With a song like O Haseena Zulfon Waali which is still remembered for Helen’s iconic dance, the movie also had Aaja Aaja which became popular for its Rock ‘n’ Roll base. And who can forget the legendary Asha Bhosle’s song O Mere Sona Re Sona Re?

Music Director, Lalit Pandit said, “Nasir Hussain sir had a musical touch. He has made some fabulous movies with amazing music. I don’t think anyone can recreate the kind of energetic and rhythmic music the movie Teesri Manzil had. It’s one of my most favourite movies mainly because of its music.”

Actor Dalip Tahil said, “When Teesri Manzil released, I realized that this movie is extremely different. It is fantastic. After that movie, I became a huge fan of Nasir Hussain. ‘O mere Sona re Sona’ and ‘O Haseena Zulfon Waali’ are my favourite songs from the movie. Teesri Manzil was a suspense thriller and one of my favourite films.”

Writer Salim Khan said, “Teesri Manzil was an interesting movie that was very well shot and people performed exceptionally well in it. Technically as well, the movie was very good.”

Teesri Manzil is the story of a depressed girl Sunita (Asha Parekh) who wants to avenge her sister’s death. Her sister had committed a suicide after being rejected by her lover named Rocky. During a train journey Asha comes across a young and mischievous Anil (Shammi Kapoor) who instantly falls in love with her and tries to pursue her. Anil’s world comes to halt when he overhears Sunita’s story, as his stage name happens to be Rocky. He tries to tell Sunita the truth but postpones it, eventually to realize that Sunita’s sister hadn’t committed suicide but was murdered instead.

What happens when Sunita finds out that Rocky is none other than Anil himself? Will Anil manage to find the murderer?

To unravel the mystery, watch Teesri Manzil as a part of the Nasir Hussain Film Festival on Sunday, 21st January at 12 noon only on Zee Classic.
