ZEEL denies knowledge of Disney legal action ICC TV rights deal

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has officially communicated to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) that it lacks awareness regarding any potential legal action by Disney in relation to the $1.4-billion ICC TV rights deal, as suggested by certain media reports.

In a statement issued on January 30, ZEEL clarified its position to BSE, stating: “We would like to emphasize that the company is not privy to, and therefore cannot provide comments on, the intentions or future actions of Star India Private Limited (Disney Star) concerning the strategic license agreement between the Company and Disney Star. It seems that the mentioned news article refers to internal discussions or plans within Disney Star, which the company is not in a position to address.”

Additionally, ZEEL highlighted its consistent adherence to the obligations outlined in the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The company affirmed its commitment to continuing the practice of making disclosures in alignment with these regulations.
