AajTak, India Today TV lead news genre on Counting Day

The verdict is out – for the next Government at the Centre in India as well as the leading news channels on Counting Day (May 23, 2019). 

Hindi News Genre 

As per BARC data [2+, Market: India, 24 Hours, May 23, 2019] AajTak emerged as the No. 1 Hindi News channel on Counting Day. In Week 21 (Saturday, May 18 to Friday, May 24) of 2019 [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals], too, AajTak led the Hindi News genre with a gross viewership of 335,841. 

ABP News follows in the second spot with a gross viewership of 243,653, while India TV is placed in the third spot with a gross viewership of 193,985. Republic Bharat (gross viewership of 188,787) and News18 India (gross viewership of 186,475) are placed at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

English News Genre 

As per BARC data for Week 21 (Saturday, May 18 to Friday, May 24) of 2019 [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals], Republic TV continued it unbroken run as the No. 1 English News channel in the country with a gross viewership of 1,414. Times Now follows at No. 2 with a gross viewership of 1,058. DD India is placed third with a gross viewership of 884. 

Close on its heels is India Today Television, which is placed in the fourth spot with a gross viewership of 856. Citing BARC data for Counting Day [2+, Market: Mega Cities, 24 Hours, May 23, 2019], India Today TV has claimed the top spot with gross viewership of 486, placing it ahead of Republic TV (gross viewership of 427) and Times Now (gross viewership of 425). 

Meanwhile, in Week 21 CNN-News18 was placed at No. 5 with a gross viewership of 772.
