Adgully Exclusive | Crystal Gazing- Television in 2010

As the world of Television slowly explodes with unlimited entertainment and numerous channels, Adgully gets you the potentially important answer to question- What is on TV this year?

Will it be the same top five (in the same order) that make it to the TAM each week this year or will the GEC space see fierce competition and if niche channels will be the next big thing, stealing the limelight and advertising revenues from the GECs.

Sameer Nair, Chief Executive Officer, Turner General Entertainment Networks India Pvt. Ltd:

The year 2010 was super interesting, we did some really good shows. Of course some became a little controversial. The big thing for us is that now we are a part of Turner General Entertainment Networks India Private Limited ' TGEN ' (a Time Warner Company). So which also makes 2011 a really focus year for us.

The industry is growing and there is only one trend in the industry that it is extremely competitive.

We have a lot of thing lined up for the year, we will be concentrating on getting one major fiction hit and fiction as a genre in programming will always be important. Non-fiction again is important in terms of attracting attention but fiction is important to build on a loyal set of audience for the channel.

Ashvini Yardi, Head- Programming, Colors:

We have something major lined up during the IPL season. Besides across the industry in terms of programming I see more of reality shows.

We at Colors are also trying to set a trend of a fiction show with multi-track and multiple characters with a strong storyline. Our new show Mukti Bandhan is a step in that direction.

We are also looking at working on something in the comedy genre too. We will offer more variety in terms of programming this year and look at a lot many genres. Moreover Colors is a new channel, so last year we took time to stabilise our programming and this year it will be a strategic year for us in terms of exploring newer content and genres.

Keertan Adyanthaya, Managing Director, Fox International Channel & National Geographic Network India:

In the new year we will be looking at coming out with lot more innovative activities and value partnerships with brands. We will try and plan more and more activities around "inspiring people to care about the planet". Moreover I think our thought about caring for our planet is what more and more young people and old people believe in today. Thus it will rub off on our channel's identity very well.
