Brands celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi, also called Vinayaka Chaturthi, is a 10-day long festival, which marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity who is worshipped as the God of wisdom and prosperity. It commences from the fourth day of the month of Bhadrapada. The celebrations of the festival begin by placing the Lord Ganesha idols on elevated platforms,  existing in homes or in intricately embellished outdoor tents. The worship starts with a ritual which is aimed at invoking an aspect of life in the idols or to make the idols come alive, also called pranapratishtha. It is followed by the 16 ways of paying tribute or shhodashopachara. In the midst of the chants of Vedic hymns from religious texts such as the Ganesh Upanishad, the idols are smeared with red sandalwood paste, along with red and yellow flowers. Twnety one modaks, jaggery, and coconuts are offered to Lord Ganesha whose favourite food is considered to be sweet dumplings. The auspicious festival is concluded by carrying the idols in huge processions to the local rivers, and is accompanied by devotional dancing, songs, and drumbeats. The idols are then immersed in the rivers, representing the journey of Lord Ganesha towards Mount Kailas, the home of his parents Parvati and Shiva.
Ganesh Chaturthi became a gala public celebration when Shivaji, the Maratha ruler, utilised it in order to invoke nationalist sentiments, among his subjects, who were fighting the Mughals. In the year 1893, when political assemblies were banned by the British, the Indian nationalist leader Bal Gangadhar Tilak revived the festival.
Like every year, this year too brands indulged in full-fledged celebrations of the merry festival of Ganesh Chaturthi by posting beautiful creatives on their social media handles. Let's take a look at how brands celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi this year:
