Canon anchored innovative industry initiatives with photography engagement programs

Canon India Pvt. Ltd, India's No 1. Complete Digital Imaging Company today showcased its innovative technologies at India's largest photography exhibition, the Photo Fair 2011. The Photofair '11 is being held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 06 January '11 to 09 January '11. The Photofair, an exhibition organized by the AIPTIA (All India Photographic Trade & Industry Association) every year, is held exclusively for the photographic community catering to amateurs, professionals and hobbyists.

The Canon Imaging zone spanning over 330sq.m was inaugurated, today, by Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President, Canon India. The four day long exhibition brings together the entire photographic and Digital Imaging community at one platform, in order to increase its awareness on the digital revolution in photographic products.

Speaking on the occasion, Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President, Canon, India said "It is always exciting for Canon to be a part of any photography revolution to establish leadership and technology prowess Our display of products in the Photofair speaks volumes of how customer choices are evolving, taking photography to the next frontier. Canon anchors growth in the photographic industry by registering 50% growth in revenue to close the year 2010 with ` 1257 crore".

He further added "Canon launched 100 new products including 38 camera models in 2010 which is testimony to revolutionary technologies for photographic excellence".

At the exhibition, the company showcased the entire range of consumer products ranging from digital cameras, camcorders, DSLR's to printers. Based on the theme "Color Palettes of Life", the Canon booth was divided into eight zones. The zones were Digital zone - showcasing digital cameras, Professional Zone - showcasing DSLR's, Legria zone - showcasing the latest range of video camcorders, Camera Health zone - specially created for the service of the cameras, Experience zone - specially designed for consumers to have hands-on experience on the products, Printer zone - specially designed for the display of the printer products, Photo Studio and Video Camera zone. Canon's technology rich products enable customers to capture and print all colors of life accurately and in the most refined way. Canon's color technology ensures that people relive their moments through the photographs with utmost clarity and with the perfect smile.

On this special occasion, Canon also showcased its latest path breaking technology, the "HS' system. The Canon HS system or the high sensitivity system, is designed specifically to capture clear, vivid photographs in any situation, especially low-light, when those moments happen. The HS system features across the professional, prosumer and consumer category cameras. Another highlighted feature showcased was the HD Movie Print available in the PIXMA Black Series All-in-Ones. This feature enables to capture and prints out frames of movie clips (only .mov files created by Canon digital cameras). The movie frame enhancement technology automatically analyses each picture, enhancing resolution and suppressing noise to provide optimum image quality.

Canon also showcased its star product, DSLR EOD 60D among others which exemplified Canon's innovative technology. The camera gives the photo enthusiast a powerful tool fostering creativity, with better image quality, more advanced features and automatic and in-camera technologies for ease-of-use. It features an improved APS-C sized 18.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor, the DIGIC IV Image Processor for finer detail and excellent color reproduction, and ISO capabilities from 100 - 6400 (expandable to 12800). The EOS 60D also features an EOS first: A Vari-angle 3.0-inch Clear View LCD (1,040,000 dots) monitor for easy low- or high-angle viewing. The camera also boasts of a number of new in-camera creative options and filters, plus HDMI output for viewing images on an HDTV all make the EOS 60D invaluable for the evolving photographer.

Apart from this, Canon has taken an extra step to encourage photography as an art form through specialized workshops. The workshops will be held by renowned photographers like Dinesh Khanna, Mike Pandey, Ashok Kochhar and Dhananjay Moray, experts in their respective genres of photography. These workshops will be held at the Vatika hall, close to the Canon booth. These workshops would not just deal with the theory of the specified genre but will also concentrate on the practical aspects such as set up, selecting the final image and presentation. The workshops would teach enthusiasts about - Street Photography, Wildlife Photography, Conceptual Fashion Photography and Wedding Videography.

Canon will also have additional workshops at the booth thrice, daily on how to use Canon EOS 550D, 60D and video capturing. The sessions will last for one hour each and will include imparting knowledge of basics of photography. These workshops reflect Canon's continuous commitment to photography and providing an enriching experience to its customers.

To promote photography and provide the desired skills to amateur and professional photographers, Canon also held workshops in 16 cities along with its Canon Image Express last year. These highly attended workshops covered themes like basic skills in photography and wedding photography. Some of these workshops were conducted by the renowned Canon panel of photographers like Raghu Rai, Daboo Ratnani, Mike Pandey, Ashok Kochhar and were called Master Class workshops. Canon also engaged its customers with the Photo Marathon, a photography contest for Canon users simultaneously in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
