CNN's Monita Rajpal to anchor primetime evening news show 'CNN NewsCenter'

CNN is further expanding its live programming from Asia with the launch of a new primetime evening news show, ‘CNN NewsCenter’, anchored out of Hong Kong by long-time CNN anchor Monita Rajpal.

Whether viewers are nearing the end of their day in Sydney, watching the markets from Delhi or Dubai or waking up in Buenos Aires, ‘CNN NewsCenter’ delivers a fast-paced and engaging summary of all the key global headlines as they develop.

Complementary to the Atlanta-anchored show of the same name, ‘CNN NewsCenter’ anchored by Monita Rajpal will be launched on Monday, January 21 at 5 pm IST. The show is the latest addition to CNN’s Hong Kong programming expansion, following the recent debut of ‘CNN Newsroom, Live from Hong Kong’, a two hour morning news show anchored by Andrew Stevens and Patricia Wu, as well as the launch of ‘On China’, a monthly show hosted by Kristie Lu Stout.

‘CNN NewsCenter’ airs at the crossroads of the international day: morning in North and South America, lunchtime in Europe, afternoon in the Middle East and Africa, and evening in the Asia Pacific region. Providing viewers around the world with a 30 minute briefing on the biggest global headlines, the primetime news program airs between CNN’s signature shows ‘Amanpour’ and ‘Piers Morgan Tonight’.

Host Monita Rajpal is a journalist with more than two decades of experience in broadcast news. Rajpal has been with CNN for more than a decade, during which time she has anchored multiple primetime news shows, interviewed some of the biggest names globally in politics, business, arts and fashion, and reported from locations across the globe, including Asia, Europe and Latin America. She was born in Hong Kong and spent much of her childhood there before moving abroad. Prior to returning to Hong Kong in November 2012, Rajpal was based in London where she was the co-host of CNN’s 'World One'.
