Country lost the creator of Indian comics; RIP Uncle Pai

A day of mourning as the creator of Indian comics Anant Pai passed away last Thursday, 24th Feb, evening. Fondly known as Uncle Pai, he was an educator and creator of the Amar Chitra Katha series in 1967 and Tinkle in 1980, both of which most us were brought up on. With these series of comics Uncle Pai revived the traditional Indian folk tales, mythological stories, and biographies of historical characters.

On 19th February 2011, Uncle Pai was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the first ever Indian Comic Convention held in New Delhi.

Following a fall from a staircase, the 81 year old Uncle Pai was admitted to a hospital for treatment on the fracture.

Thursday morning, Uncle Pai suffered a massive heart attack and breathed his last around 5 p.m., the family member said.

He has till this day inspired many children and grown ups and On behalf of his many admirers we say, bye, bye, Uncle Pai.
