Exclusive | "I enjoy being in front of the camera" says Karan Johar

A versatile personality who has always made an impact be it in producing and directing films, acting, costume designing, as a judge/host of television shows, choreographer, Karan Johar is a man for all seasons. Influenced by commercial cinema in his childhood he started off his career as an actor before making a hit debut as a director with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998. Karan, who is presently hosting Koffee with Karan on Star World will soon be seen judging reality show India's Got Talent season 5 along with Malaika Arora Khan and Kirron Kher which premiers on January 11, 2014.

Sharing his views about the upcoming season of India's Got Talent 5, Karan said "Through the seasons of IGT, I have realized that there is extensive talent which runs throughout the country.  With every season there is also a touching story behind every contestant including the life they have lived and hardships they have undergone to reach this platform. Sometimes while seeing their performances and listening to their stories, it's tough to control our emotions."

Does he believe that platforms like IGT helps participants to make a good career post the show. In answer to this he said, "We don't know whether they get good opportunities like these platforms in their society, city or state to which they belong. India's Got Talent has set a path for many talented artists like Sonali-Suman, Shillong Chamber Choir, the sand artist and others.  It is heartening to judge them. It's not that contestants do not get recognition post the shows because talent always lasts.”

He was recently seen judging Jhalak Dikhala Jaa a few months back post which began his talk show Koffee with Karan and now along with this show he will be judging IGT.  How does he manage his hectic schedule? He goes on to explain "I have already shot the episodes for Koffee with Karan and currently shooting for IGT.  It does get a bit stressful at times because of the timings, but both the shows have different perspectives and I have a different role to play in each of the show."

Speaking about his plans for the near future Karan avers "I don't want to get into productions. I am happy doing television shows and enjoy being in front of the camera. I don't understand the TRP game and don't want to get tensed about it as we always worry about Box Office numbers.”

Letting us in on his upcoming projects he said "I am planning to produce one of my shows at the end of this year, and the shooting for the same will start in December 2014."
