I&B Minister to launch online portals for media stakeholders

Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur will launch a suite of online portals aimed at boosting transparency and efficiency in communication between government agencies and media stakeholders. These portals serve diverse needs, ranging from newspaper registration to access to government video content and streamlined advertising processes.

Key initiatives:
Press Sewa Portal: As part of the proposed Press and Registration of Periodicals Act, 2023, this portal facilitates seamless interaction between the Registrar of Newspapers of India (RNI) and publishers, owners, and printers. It offers a centralized platform for all registration applications, promoting ease and transparency.
National Video Gateway of India (NaViGate): This redesigned website simplifies registration for newspapers and magazines, serving as a one-stop-shop for government advertising as well. NaViGate acts as a central archive for government-produced videos, providing citizens with convenient access to official content.
Transparent Empanelment, Media Planning and E-billing System (TEMPEST): Developed by BECIL, this portal digitizes CBC's end-to-end government advertising processes. It streamlines applications from media outlets, centralizes renewal rates, and simplifies transactions, enhancing transparency and efficiency.
Broadcast Seva Portal: This existing portal now includes a new link for local cable operators (LCOs) to register and obtain national registration numbers. Already, 28 LCOs have utilized this feature, signifying its potential for streamlining broadcast regulations.
These initiatives aim to:
Improve ease of access and communication for media stakeholders.
Enhance transparency and accountability in government processes.
Promote efficiency and reduce administrative burdens.
Provide citizens with centralized access to valuable government information.
Overall, these online portals mark a significant step towards modernizing India's media landscape and fostering an environment of increased collaboration and openness between government and media stakeholders.
