Josh finds the biggest Phuchka lover of Bengal

Pani Puri is a street food that is enjoyed by all Indians be it a celeb or a layman. We call this chat with different names in different regions of the country – Golgappa or Panipuri, Batashe or Gup Chup. But none of these can beat the Phuchka of Bengal

Josh, India’s fastest-growing and most engaged short-video app, in association with Red FM, recently celebrated the love of Indians/Bengalis for this simple street food Phuchkaa with a 10-day Phuchkakhor challenge campaign to find the Biggest Phuchka Lover of Bengal.

The grand finale was hosted at the Lake Club, Kolkata on 5th April.

Honouring Bengal with the title ‘King of Panipuri’, Josh sheds light on the of rich culture associated with food in Bengal. The on-ground activity took place for 10 days at five different locations across three cities of Asansol, Durgapur and Kolkata. Josh mobile stalls at these locations were set up to encourage people to download and sign-in to the Josh app to participate in the challenge and post videos of the same.

The top 10 Phuchkakhors evolved from the 10-day contest, competed against each other at the grand finale, and attended by Tollywood celebrities such as Rajdeep Gupta, Anamika Chakraborty, Alivia Sarkar, Chandrayee Ghosh and Devlin Kumar. Creators of Josh and Participants got to interact and create collab videos with the celebs.

The following participants emerged as winners:

  • Pallabi Mondal, From Keshtopur, Dum-Dum: Awarded ₹ 1,00,000 cash and goodie bag
  • Swarup Sadhukhan, From Howrah: Awarded ₹ 60,00 cash and goodie bag
  • Sreejeeta Sarkar Saha, From Kasba: Awarded ₹ 40,000 cash and goodie bag

We wanted to bring a bit more excitement into something which is so local and regular but loved by all.  The idea was to celebrate Bengal’s Love for Phuchka by challenging the participants to eat their heart out within 60 secs and post the challenge video on Josh app to encourage more participation and app engagement. We congratulate the winners for being a part of this challenge and for their undying passion towards Phuchkas. We also thank Red FM for making this event a grand success.” said Josh Bengal Team

Four were chosen from on-ground & six creator participants (3+3) from the app. The winners were qualified basis the highest number of Phuchka eaters, quality and number of videos posted on the Josh app.

Celebs and influencers of town like Alivia Sarkar, Adrija Roy, Joey Deb Roy, Indrakshi Dey, Poulomi Das etc visited the hotspots each day to interact with crowd and participate in the competition.
